Our state of the art digital radiography system provides clear, quality x-rays in a very short amount of time. The high level of accuracy and ability to manipulate image settings allows for better and faster diagnosis, which leads to better and faster treatment.
Diagnostic Services In our diagnostic work-up, we may use many different tools and tests to determine the cause of your pets illness and the available treatment options. Our on-site lab allows us to analyze blood, urine, and feces in house, in order to achieve fast and reliable diagnostic clues! We also use Idexx Laboratories for more comprehensive testing and consultation on your pet. For more serious issues we can refer you to the proper feline or canine specialist.
Surgical Procedures & Laser Surgery Routine and emergency animal surgeries are performed at our hospital. Our elective surgeries take place Monday to Friday and include spays, neuters, biopsies and mass removals. Although surgeries are performed first thing in the morning, most patients are encouraged to spend the day, to ensure they undergo a quiet and pain free recovery. All patients are monitored under anaesthesia by a trained veterinary nurse using state of the art surgical monitoring equipment. To help speed tissue recover, we offer laser as an option for elective surgeries. Owners may also choose to have pre-anaesthetic blood testing done before the procedure to ensure that there are no predisposing conditions or anaesthetic risks. Administration of intravenous fluids to their pet during the surgery is another option which helps your pet to maintain blood pressure and hydration status during the surgery. Aside from routine elective surgery, our veterinarians are also fully skilled in surgeries involving the bladder, stomach and intestinal tract. In the event your pet requires a specialty surgery, we can easily arrange referral to a board certified veterinary surgeon.
Ultrasound
In certain medical cases abdominal or cardiac ultrasound may give us that extra piece of information to pin point your pets illness and identify the appropriate course of treatment. In the event an ultrasound is required, we have a trained ultrasound specialist come to the clinic in order to scan your pet!
Dental Care
Dental Care is a critical part of your pet's routine health care. Thirty percent of pets by the age of 2 show some degree of change to their dental health. Your pets teeth will be checked yearly at their annual physical examination. At this visit we can discuss and demonstrate at-home dental care tactics, such as tooth brushing, dental diets and oral health chews.
In the event that your pets dental health has surpassed the efforts of home care tactics alone, a routine scale and polish of their teeth may be indicated. Unfortunately, as our pets do not know not to bite the dentist, this requires they be placed under general anesthetic for their cleaning. While asleep, they will have each tooth cleaned thoroughly with an ultrasonic scaler, and then polished to create a smooth surface, helping to reduce future plaque buildup. Dental radiographs may be required to access the health of the roots of their teeth and to determine if extractions (tooth removal) are necessary. Once the cleaning is complete, we will recommend and review products to use at home, to keep your pets new clean smile pearly white!
